With my MBA classes at Yale in a hybrid model- option to attend lectures both in-person and virtual format — I traveled to my hometown. My hometown — Panjipara- is a small village in West Bengal, a state in the eastern part of India. Bagdogra is the nearest airport.

I had a flight reservation from JFK (New York airport) to Delhi in Qatar airways for 04th of November, but around mid-October, I received the flight cancellation email from them. Qatar gave me 4 options (in the appendix):

Fed could have saved Lehman Brothers from failing under Section 13 (3) by extending PDCF that it did to other banks, and a different long-term resolution of the firm would have helped the global financial crisis from worsening.

The views below are based on my understanding of The Fed and Lehman Brothers by Ball. The article reviews the book and tries to draw conclusion from the stated facts.

The Fed and Lehman Brothers book by Laurence M. Ball shows that Lehman’s failure could have been avoided, and the policymakers weren’t restricted to provide liquidity support under Section 13 (3). Section…

The three crises that affected Europe during the crisis were the banking crisis, sovereign debt crisis, and growth and competitive crisis.

The banking crisis is like the global financial crisis in the US, in which the banking system failed because of excessive lending, global saving glut, and bubble in the asset market. The banking crisis was a shock in the economy that led many countries to use their sovereign debt to support those banks. Sometimes, because of sovereign defaults, banks with sizeable sovereign debt funds came on the verge of bankruptcy.

Countries tried to ease the burden of their debt…

In February 2020, we were hearing stories about the virus in China and how it may force a global lockdown and impact the everyday operation. It was surprising to even think the world would shut down for a couple of days. We were caught off guard when the lockdown came into effect; many friends who planned a spring break trip cut their vacation and returned to New Haven. I was looking for an internship and the future looked bleak. Classes were switched to Zoom with both professors and students struggling to adjust to the new framework. …

Digital art is like any other art. It’s just created using other tools from the traditional ones. Art is about emotion or message that is presented in a visual form independent from the tools used to create it. Digital arts today are cheaper than the traditional art market, although the prices are increasing.[1] “Early digital works cost a few thousand dollars, like any new medium,” says Magda Sawon, co-founder of the Postmasters Gallery in New York, which has half of its inventory in digital work. …

A product can be anything and the role and responsibilities of a product manager change across different industries. In this post, I will remove some myths on the Product Manager role and share a bird-eye view on the product development process along with some frameworks that may come useful in remembering the overall process.

Product Manager Role

Role of Product Manager in an organization

Product Managers are not managers of anybody except for school interns who aspire to become product managers themselves. The PM acts as a central node in the product development process and is ultimately responsible for the success of the product. …

I reached John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York, USA on Cathay Pacific Airlines after travelling more than 24 hours from Kolkata, India. Taking a luggage cart was an option but I avoided it as taking it would have costed me five bucks so instead, I dragged my two big trolley bags, one cabin trolley and a backpack. You can guess I was in my INR (Indian Rupee) mode and conversion rate at airport was more than 85 INR against 1 dollar. In India, one can have a very fulfilling meal in 85 rupees. Following all the exit…

My commitment to developing and using my leadership to make a difference in all areas of my life — professional, academic and in the community — is what matters most to me and has enabled me to bring such significant impact to others at a young age.

Growing up in rural India, I experienced the impact of inadequate infrastructure, limited access to affordable quality care and low-quality healthcare and education services. There were many people who claimed that a child like me, raised in such community could never make it to any college, let alone to IIT, one of the…
